Refunds
This policy covers Featured placement. Browsing, searching, saving and submitting blogs are free, and nothing on this page applies to them.
1. What you're paying for
A booking places an already-approved blog in a sponsored position for the weeks you choose: the Sponsored section of the homepage at $15 a week, or the first position on its own category page at $8 a week.
A booking covers consecutive weeks, each running from Monday to Sunday in Coordinated Universal Time, and the earliest you can start is the week after you book. Booking again adds new weeks rather than changing the ones you have.
It is a fixed placement, not a subscription. Nothing renews automatically, and there is no ongoing charge to cancel: if you do nothing at the end, it simply ends.
A placement is a paid position rather than an editorial endorsement, and it is labelled Sponsored. Only a blog that has already been approved can be featured, so paying is not a way to skip or influence review. See the submission guidelines for the editorial bar itself.
2. Price, currency and tax
The fee is charged in United States dollars. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts it at its own rate and may add a fee of its own. That conversion is between you and your bank, and is not something we can refund.
Our payment provider is the merchant of record for the sale. That means it is the seller for tax purposes: it works out any sales tax, VAT or GST due from the country you are in, adds it at checkout, and remits it. The price shown on this page is before that tax.
Because the provider is the seller of record, your card statement may show its name rather than ours, and the invoice for the purchase comes from it. You can reach your invoice at any time from the billing section of your dashboard.
3. Before your placement goes live
If you change your mind within 48 hours of paying, and your placement has not started running yet, email us and we will refund it in full.
Because a booking starts on a Monday no earlier than the week after you pay, the 48 hours usually run out before your first week begins.
4. After your placement goes live
Once your blog is showing in its sponsored position, the placement is not refundable, because the weeks you booked have started being delivered.
This is the ordinary position for a placement that is being delivered as agreed. The sections below cover the cases where it is not.
5. If your blog is removed during a placement
If we remove your blog from the directory during an active placement because it broke our rules, meaning the acceptable use policy or the submission guidelines, the remaining days are not refunded.
If we remove it for a reason unrelated to anything you did (we retired a category, or we made a mistake) we refund the unused days, calculated from the day it stopped showing.
If you ask us to remove your own blog part-way through a placement you have paid for, tell us when you write and we will discuss the unused days with you rather than applying a rule to it.
6. If something goes wrong on our end
If a technical problem on our end stopped your blog from showing correctly during its placement, contact us and we will put it right. Depending on what happened and for how long, that means extending the placement by the days you lost, or refunding them.
Brief interruptions, such as a deploy or a few minutes of downtime, are not something we refund. A placement that was not visible for a meaningful part of its run is.
If a payment succeeded but no placement ever started, that is our problem, not yours. Tell us and we will either start it or refund it in full, whichever you prefer.
7. Partial refunds and chargebacks
Where we agree to refund part of a placement, the refund is issued through the original payment method by our payment provider. A partial refund does not end the placement: it keeps running for the weeks it was booked for, unless we have separately told you it is ending. A full refund does end it, immediately.
Refunds normally reach your account within five to ten business days once issued, depending on your bank. That part is outside our control.
If you think a charge is wrong, please write to us before asking your bank to reverse it. A chargeback takes weeks, costs us a fee whatever the outcome, and we can almost always resolve the same problem by email in a day. Raising a chargeback on a placement that has been delivered may result in the listing being removed and the account closed.
8. Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy affects the rights you have by law, and where the law gives you more than this page does, the law wins.
If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you would ordinarily have 14 days to cancel a purchase made online. That right covers any booked week that has not started. Once a placement is running, you have asked us to deliver it, and the right no longer covers the part already delivered. The 48-hour window above is our own policy on top of that, not a restriction of it.
Businesses buying a placement are not consumers for this purpose, and the terms of this policy apply as written.
9. Requesting a refund
Email hello@wordfolk.app with your blog's name and the email address you paid with. It helps if you tell us which of the situations above applies, but you do not need to argue a case, just describe what happened.
We aim to answer within two business days and to resolve a refund within five. If we are going to say no, we will tell you why rather than leaving it.
General questions about the paid placement itself, rather than a refund, are covered in the terms of service.
